Why are Wireless products and services important?
Network management systems address one of the most fundamental problems in wireless communications networks, namely how to optimise management of shared radio resources between all users in a fair and efficient manner.
What is the market and its value for Wireless products?
Currently the main focus for these wireless network management systems is the enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) market which is expected to be worth over US$4.5 billion in 2005. In the mid to long term, NSSC Wireless will expand its operations to address wireless communication in the local loop (WLL) and next generation IP systems.
What can Wireless do for network operators?
The wireless network management systems being developed will allow network operators to integrate their voice and data services onto a single wireless network, thereby greatly decreasing the costs associated with the deployment and management of these services.
How is all of this concerned with VoIP or Internet Telephony?
Enterprise network operators will be able to extend the voice over IP (Internet telephony) revolution currently underway in wired networks into wireless networks within the corporate network. Effective end-to-end management of a corporate network that may comprise a mixture of wired and wireless sub-networks is a critical component in the successful deployment of VoIP solutions.
